Heroes

3,197 Golden Retrievers, every one of them named.

Every dog enrolled in the Golden Retriever Lifetime Study has a place in the Sniff Atlas. The largest within-breed longitudinal canine cohort in the world, projected by DNA into a shared genetic universe. Each Hero has a page, a name (auto-generated until their owner claims them), and a contribution to the science.

Heroes are the 3,197 GRLS dogs mapped in the atlas (the Heroes count). Published interim health rates on the cohort page use the study enrollment denominator, labeled separately. Molecular oncology pages are somatic tumor models, not a claim about any named Hero.

Distinguished Golden Oldies
196

196 Goldens in the atlas reached age 12 without a malignant cancer diagnosis. Golden Retrievers have one of the highest cancer rates of any breed; an Oldie is a rare and meaningful outlier. These are the ones.
